In Simone Colombo’s Driver collection, handle and knob merge into a single design. This project, previewed at Salone del Mobile.Milano, reinterprets the soft shapes typical of knobs with geometric purity and a touch of timeless modernity. Reminiscent of the golf driver—the club generally used for the opening stroke—from which it takes its name, the design combines functionality and elegance.
“I was inspired by an antique handle from the early 1900s,” explains Simone Colombo. “I was struck by its proportions and reimagined its form according to my design principles: essential, clean, and unforced in its lines.”
The result is a knob handle defined by a wraparound form and a distinctive sloping line. This line is more than an aesthetic feature—it reflects an ergonomic solution derived from the way the fingers naturally grip the handle, encouraging proper positioning.
