Movement becomes form in Nur, the handle designed by Lorenzo Palmeri. True to the idea that every object has meaning in relation to who and how it will be used, Palmeri began by analyzing the everyday gesture that accompanies the closing and opening of a door.
An intuitive interaction that translated into a tangible sign: a curve that transforms into a plane, emerging from the door and naturally welcoming the hand.
The result is a object “alive” that changes depending on the gaze of those who encounter it. Seen from the front, it is a pure sign, while in profile it reveals an almost organic rotation.
A power of movement thanks to which the handle also offers as a luminous body. Because Nur—a word with a poetic sound that in Arabic means light—with its inclination collects and reflects light, a quality clearly perceptible in Max Rommel's photographs.
"Remove, until you leave what is truly needed": the designer's words describe Nur as a work of synthesis in which the use of material is consciously reduced.
